Blades & Knives

Blades & Knives are precision cutting tools designed for durability, control, and efficiency, suitable for a wide range of industrial, workshop, and general-purpose applications.

Overview

Blades and knives are essential hand tools used for cutting, trimming, shaping, and general material processing. Depending on the manufacturing method and design, they offer different levels of strength, balance, and cutting performance for professional and industrial use.

Manufacturing Types

There are two main types of blades and knives: forged and stamped. Forged blades are hammered from a single piece of metal and typically offer higher strength and durability. Stamped blades are cut from flat sheets of metal and can provide excellent value when well manufactured.

Design & Construction

In forged knives, the metal of the blade extends through the handle, known as the tang. A full tang design provides improved balance, leverage, and stability, especially for heavy-duty cutting tasks. The tang is commonly secured with rivets or integrated into modern molded handles.

Forged knives also feature a bolster, a thick section of metal between the blade and handle. The bolster improves balance and helps prevent the hand from slipping forward onto the blade during use.

Handling & Maintenance

Proper handling and maintenance are essential for safety and performance. Blades should be kept sharp to ensure efficient cutting and reduce the need for excessive force, which lowers the risk of accidents. Knives should be cleaned, dried, and stored properly after use.

Only wooden or plastic cutting surfaces should be used to avoid damaging the blade edge. Knives should be stored securely on magnetic strips, knife racks, or in protective cases to prevent damage and ensure user safety.
