A lobe pump, also known as a rotary lobe pump, is a type of positive displacement pump that uses rotating lobes to move fluid through the pump casing. The lobes rotate without touching each other, reducing wear and ensuring smooth operation.
Operating Principle
As the lobes rotate, they unmesh on the inlet side, creating expanding cavities that draw fluid into the pump. The fluid is then trapped between the lobes and the casing and carried around to the discharge side, where the lobes mesh again and force the fluid out.
