Dowel Bar Sleeve

Overview

Dowel Bar Sleeves are plastic accessories installed over smooth steel dowel bars in concrete pavement expansion and contraction joints. The sleeve fully debonds the dowel from the surrounding concrete, allowing the slab to expand and contract freely while the dowel bar continues to transfer loads between adjacent slabs.

Function & Purpose

The sleeve eliminates frictional resistance between the dowel bar and the concrete, replacing traditional debonding methods such as grease or bitumen coatings. As the concrete moves with temperature changes, drying shrinkage, and traffic loading, the dowel bar slides freely inside the sleeve while maintaining structural continuity across the joint.
