Air Release Valve

Overview

Air release valves are installed on pressurized pipelines to automatically remove trapped air that accumulates at high points. The presence of air pockets can reduce flow efficiency, increase energy losses, and cause damaging pressure fluctuations. Air release valves ensure smooth and reliable pipeline operation.

Working Principle

• Air collects at high points in a full pipeline and enters the valve body
• Accumulated air displaces the liquid inside the valve, causing the float to drop
• The internal lever mechanism multiplies the float force
• The valve orifice opens even under internal pressure to release trapped air
• Once air is expelled and liquid refills the valve, the float rises and the valve closes
