Pressure Relief Valve

Pressure Relief Valves designed to protect fire pump systems from excessive pressure by safely discharging surplus water and preventing equipment damage.
Overview
Pressure Relief Valves are critical safety components in fire protection systems, specifically designed to prevent damage caused by excessive pressure in fire pump installations. These valves automatically discharge excess pressure, ensuring system stability and equipment protection.
Purpose & Function (As Provided)
Pressure relief valves are used to protect fire pump systems from overpressure conditions. Fire protection systems typically utilize diesel-driven or electrically driven fire pumps, where sudden pressure rises may occur during operation. In such systems, pressure relief valves are essential to safely release excess pressure and maintain system integrity.
System Protection Benefits (As Provided)
- Prevents pressure-related damage in diesel and electric fire pumps
- Protects piping, valves, and downstream equipment
- Enhances operational safety of fire pump systems
- Reduces maintenance and repair costs
Operating Principle
The pressure relief valve remains closed during normal operating conditions. When system pressure exceeds the preset limit, the valve opens automatically to discharge excess water, reducing pressure to a safe level. Once pressure returns to acceptable limits, the valve closes and normal operation resumes.
